Neptunite is a black crystal that is often found growing with the extremely rare Benitoite in California. It is named after the Roman sea god Neptune, as it was originally found growing closely with Aegirine, named after the Norse God of the Sea. Neptunite is also piezoelectric, which means that it produces an electrical charge when pressure is exerted upon it.
