Hollandite is an oxide that grows as a rare and collectable black star shaped inclusion inside of Clear Quartz crystals, but can also be found in botryoidal black masses. It was named after Sir Thomas Holland, a British geologist who directed the Geological Survey of India, where Hollandite was first discovered. In 2012 Hollandite was reclassified as a mineral, and is now technically known as ferrihollandite, although the original name is the most widely used.
