Descloizite is named after Alfred Des Cloizeaux, French Professor of Mineralogy in Paris in the late 1800s. It is a rare secondary mineral often found in oxidization zones of base metal deposits. It is very similar chemically to Mottramite, where the Zinc is replaced with Copper in it's chemical makeup.
