Description

This specimen of Wollastonite comes from the Meldon Orehampton, Devon, England. You will receive the exact Wollastonite crystal pictured.

Wollastonite is named after accomplished English mineralogist William Hyde Wollaston, and was discovered in the early 1800s in Rome, Italy. It is formed when calcium rich rocks such as limestone are exposed to high pressure and temperatures in association with silica rich fluids. As an industrial mineral, it is used to improve the toughness and durability of materials due to it's acicular crystal structure.
