Description

Excellent fossil Megalodon tooth from South Carolina, with the edge serrations smoothed by the ocean but sill visible and can be felt with a finger. The lighter coloured enamel stands out well against the darker bourlette and root. You will receive the exact Meg tooth as pictured.

The Megalodon (Otodus Megaldon) was a prehistoric giant, and ruler of the ancient seas, approximately 15 - 18 meters long! Its name means "Giant-Tooth" and it's obvious as to why, with the largest examples reaching 7 inches! The Megalodon, an extinct species of giant mackerel shark, lived between roughly 23 and 3.6 million years ago, during the periods known as the Early Miocene through to the Early Pliocene.
