Star Rose Quartz shows a 6 rayed asterism under a bright light, the asterism is best seen when the Rose Quartz is polished into a sphere, and it can be seen on the two opposite sides. The asterism is caused by the same thing as the pink colour itself in Rose Quartz - the tiny pink borosilicate fibres that were named Dididumortierite after their similarity to Dumortierite fibres. This is different to most other gemstones that display an asterism, as those are believed to be caused by inclusions of Rutile. The best Star Rose Quartz can usually be found in Brazil and Madagascar, although other locations can also produce it.
