Mordenite is a member of the Zeolite family and takes its name from Morden in Nova Scotia, Canada, where it was first discovered in 1864. It can grow in a variety of crystal formations, from hard dense balls, to well formed long, delicate and hairlike crystals. Mordenite is often found in conjunction with other Zeolite minerals and their associates, including Stilbite, Heulandite and Apophyllite.
