Maw Sit Sit is a beautiful bright green gem that is currently only found in Myanmar (Burma). It has been frequently confused with Jade, but is in fact a metamorphic rock composed of Clinochlore, Chromian Jadeite, Albite, Kosmochlor amongst others. Although it is generally thought that the Chromium elements are what gives this stone it's bright green colour, it is actually the mineral Kosmochlor. It is officially a fairly newly discovered gem, named in 1963 by Swiss Geologist Edward Gueblin after the village in the foothills of the Himalayas where it was discovered.
