Limestone
Limestone is a form of sedimentary rock that must be made up of at least 50% Calcium Carbonate, primarily in the form of Calcite. It can often contain the fossils of predominantly marine creatures, but also potentially land animals due to the 'bloat and float' theory. As a rock, it is potentially composed of several different minerals, so does not have a defined single crystal system or hardness. Chalk and Travertine are forms of Limestone, whilst Marble is Limestone which has undergone heat and pressure changes (metamorphosed).
Limestone is believed to possess grounding qualities, fostering a connection to Earth's energy for stability. It can help to cleanse and purify spaces and is associated with harmonizing and balancing energies within oneself and surroundings. Limestone's gradual formation is thought to symbolize adaptability and resilience in the face of change. Its historical use in architecture and monuments have also been suggested it can be linked to ancient energies or wisdom.
