Crocoite is a lead based crystal that was used to make the pigment Chrome Yellow. It was first discovered in Russia, but the best, well formed crystals come from Tasmania. Its name loosely translates from the Greek for saffron, in relation to its colour, although it was originally and creatively named Red Lead Ore.

Crocoite is said to connect strongly with the Root chakra, making it an excellent grounding crystal. Crocoite is also believed to bring passion and a desire for life, helping to stimulate creativity. It is also thought to be helpful during times of change, aiding in the transition process.
