Our top priority is ensuring your crystals arrive in perfect condition, but also in a way that has as little impact on the planet as possible. We use box suppliers who create our boxes out of recycled and sustainable materials and our bubble wrap is recyclable.

This polished Variolite is from Durance, France, you will receive the exact Variolite shown in the photos. Variolite is a basaltic rock that was given the name from the Latin name for the virus that causes smallpox - Variola.
This is due to the pock marked appearance of the rock, and technically it is the blobs themselves that are the variolites / Varioles, these are radial aggregates (needle like crystals that grow out from the centre) that form within the basalt.
Variolite is found in various places throughout the world, two of the most famous being along the Durance river in France, where these are from, and along the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. Strictly speaking, Variolite is an old term, and instead the very catchy "Variolite Pillow Lava" should be used instead, it's just a little more of a mouthful!
