This find from a new pocket in Cordieros, Bahia, Brazil in 2025 shows strong UV reactivity under longwave UV light, with bright yellow - orange glowing phantoms revealed within the Quartz. You will receive the exact crystal in the pictures.
This new find, the first batch of which was found in 2019, was originally claimed to be Powellite included Amethyst & Quartz, due to the UV reactions and the presence of Molybdenum showing in the first set of tests. This second, newer pocket find from the same region, has not shown any Molybdenum in a second set of tests, so the likelihood of Powellite being the cause of the UV reaction has been strongly cast into doubt, as without Molybdenum, there can be no Powellite. Instead, new tests and theories believe that instead it is more likely that the fluoresence is of an organic origin, most likely hydrocarbons. Brazilian dealers are still selling this as Powellite Amethyst, which is why we have included this name in the brackets.
