This polished Seymchan Pallasite Meteorite Slice has been polished and lightly etched. You will receive the exact specimen pictured.
Seymchan is a meteorite that was discovered in Russia in 1967, and is classified as a pallasite meteorite due to the presence of olivine crystals. Seymchan is an ideal collectors meteorite, as it is much more rust resistant than the cheaper Sericho meteorite, due to the iridium content. However, it should still not be stored in a humid environment or closed plastic cases like clam shells, as this traps moisture and increases the rate of oxidisation. Unlike other pallasite meteorites, the dispersion of olivine crystals is uneven, clustered in the outer crust of the meteorite, and as such only 10 - 20% of Seymchan specimens contain Olivine.
