Alacam Amethyst is a specific type of Amethyst found in the Alacam Mountains in Turkey. What sets it apart from other types of Amethyst, apart from the unusual location, is its unique coloring and pattern. Alacam Amethyst will often have a distinctive reddish-purple hue, and sometimes you will find wonderful pseudomorphs after Baryte, giving them a very unique appearance.
Amethyst is a purple variety of quartz, and is found in many locations worldwide, including Brazil and Uruguay. Varieties include Chevron Amethyst, which has banding of white quartz in, and Ametrine, which is a naturally occurring combination of Amethyst and Citrine.
