Mica is both an individual crystal and also the name of a group of shiny, sheet minerals that encompasses Lepidolite, Muscovite, Biotite, Fuchsite and many more. It gets its name from the Latin 'micaire', which means to flash or glisten due to its shiny appearance. Mica often grows in conjunction with other crystals such as Tourmaline or Aquamarine.
