This specimen of Celestite with yellow Sulphur is from the closed Muculufa Mine, an old Sulphur Mine on the island of Sicily off the coast of Italy. The delicate spiked crystals are a much different formation to the chunky blue crystals of the Celestite geodes often found in Madagascar. You will receive the exact crystal pictured.
It is also known as Celestine, and is named after the Latin word for "sky or heaven", and in ancient culture it was said to be pieces of the sky that had fallen to earth. It is usually found in a delicate blue colour but can also be found in other colours. Celestite is a reasonably soft mineral, with a hardness of 3-3.5 on Moh's hardness scale.
