This Baryte specimen is from the unusual location of the Clara Mine in the Black Forest, Germany. The Clara Mine is the only remaining operating mine in the Black Forest, and is actively mined for it's Baryte and Fluorite deposits. You will receive the exact Baryte crystal seen in the photographs.
Baryte, also spelled Barite, can be found in many colours and many locations around the world. Baryte Roses are an unusual formation, and may be confused with Gypsum Desert Roses, although the blades are much larger. It was first named in 1800 after the Greek word for heavy, alluding to its unusual heaviness for a non-metal mineral. The Native Americans used Barite as a link between the spiritual realm and the physical, as well as in shape shifting rituals.
