Agate
Agate is characterised by its stripes, also known as banding. It is the name given to any banded Chalcedony, which is a microcrystalline variety of Quartz. The different names reference either the colour or locality where it is found, for example Blue Lace Agate has a certain light blue wavy banding, and Botswana Agate comes from Botswana. Most Agate is sold in tumbles, but larger pieces can be cut and polished into towers, and Agate Geodes are often found with druzy Quartz in the centre. Although Agate does come in a huge variety of colours, the bright blue, pink, green and purple Agate slices and geodes are dyed to produce this artificial looking colour.
As a good earthy grounding crystal, Agate anchors your energy to the present moment and helps establish a strong connection with the Earth. It serves as a catalyst for imagination, fostering creativity and inspiring innovative thinking. Agate also supports concentration and focus, making it a valuable tool for studying or engaging in tasks that require mental clarity. With its stabilising influence, Agate brings a sense of balance and equilibrium to all aspects of life, harmonising the mind, body, and spiritual energy.
