{"product_id":"schorl-dravite-tourmaline-in-quartz-8","title":"Schorl - Dravite Tourmaline in Quartz #8","description":"\u003cp\u003eThis incredible specimen of Tourmaline in Quartz is believed to be from the Piaui River Pegmatite in Minas Gerais Brazil, rather than the more commonly labelled Piaui region in north east Brazil. Rather than being a straight Black Tourmaline (Schorl), it displays a rich yellow - green - brown colour when backlit, and is instead much more likely to be a member of the Schorl - Dravite series, with varying concentrations of iron and magnesium. The growth conditions for this pegmatite were a little different as this magma was rich in lithium and boron which made the magma less viscous and allowed the resulting crystals that are able to grow long and thin, and the hydrothermal fluids remained present and active long enough for multiple ‘generations’ of delicate crystals to grow into each other, resulting in the overlapping internal and external network of Tourmaline shown on these specimens.
